Indeed the behaviour you describe for Impress looks better than the one you describe for write. In all copies of Impress (2.2, 2.4.1, Windows, Original flavour or Mandriva compiled) i've tried I get the following behaviour : - When no text is selected the copy, cut and format painter are gray. Just how it should be. - When selecting some text, the copy and cut button get active but the format painter still remains desperatly grayed and inactive.
