------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Sep 10 17:43:00 +0000 2008 ------- In all applications if not at least Calc and Writer. When accessing a file form a server location (Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition w/ SP2) or even local file, the software does not notify you that the file is already in use - thus being able to give the option of Open in Read- Only Mode, Notify when file is Available, or just Cancel the file open request. Instead in OOo 3.0 RC1 the file opens regardless of use state in normal mode. In version 2.4.1 the file opened default as read only if it was already in use, this was not very useful either in that the only way you knew the file was open by another user was by looking at the Title Bar - to see FileName.doc - (Read Only) -or- trying to save the document and being notified to name it. I need OOo to check to see if the file is in use and give me options as of what to do like Open in Read-Only Mode, Notify when file is Available, or just Cancel the file open request. Also other software will tell you what user is accessing the file, that would be very helpful as well. I have listed PC - Windows XP - but this probably pertains to all platforms and all OS's.
