But now when I close the file, go back to the same icon through the menu system, I can't re-open or use that file at all. I go straight to the wizard which lets me create a new one or connect to a database, the list of which does not include 'hsql' or 'OOo database files. This is still bizzare, if slightly differently bizzare. I go back to being surprised that this icon does not open the applicaiton, but rather a wizard that is part of the application. It is not immediately obvious how to go back and USE the file I have just created, and that can't help anyone. OK, I can navigate to the odb and open that, but that's not the way the WP works, or the Spreadsheet. In those it is possible to open the application and then choose the data.
