The Australian goverment placed some forms online that can only be used with
Excel.
Those forms are mandatory for some applications and cannot be replaced with
anything else (authorities are instructed to refuse different forms). The guy
who coded that stuff (who is paid with taxpayer money) has been very able in
making that stuff to work with Excel under Windows and Mac only and he is
uncooperative about the issue, basically he did a great job for Microsoft with
pubblic money as my client had to install Excel and dismiss OpenOffice.

The forms in question can be found at:
http://www.abcb.gov.au/go/whatweredoing/workprogram/projectsae/energy/eecalculat
ors
basically they produces an error box when one try to insert numeric or text
value in most of the fields.
I tried those Form on a old version of Excel 97 and they works, they do not
work in OO 2.0beta (Win), and 2.3 (Linux), and 2.4 (Win) I did not try in 3.0
beta.
In my opinion the problem resides in the formatting of the cells probably a
special custom format has been attached to the cell in order to mislead OO.
