This happens if the cell range references of the chart data contain absolute
sheet addressing, starting with a '$' dollar character such as in $Sheet1. If
the '$' was omitted, relative addressing could be used. However, omitting the
'$' seems not to be possible, when attempting this under "Modify Data Range" it
appears to be automatically reinserted.
