2008 -------
I have tested it with own webdav server from Windows XP, Windows Vista, and
MacOS X. I have mounted the webdav server on the systems as a local volume. From
all the mentioned systems it is possible to open the file for editing from
OOo3.0, and to store it, as well as to store to a new file.

Windows does not allow to create a file with lock file syntax in Explorer, but
it is a feature of Explorer. The Windows API allows to create such file without
problem, since it is a legal file name. It is even possible to save a file with
lock file syntax from Notepad.

Impossibility to create the lock file on the mentioned webdav server looks to be
the problem of the webdav servers configuration and can not be treated as a
problem of OOo.

I am closing the issue as invalid since the problem looks to be a result of
wrong configuration of the webdav server. Please reopen the issue if I
misunderstood something and there is indeed a problem in OOo lock file handling
that causes the scenario to fail.
