------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Oct 17 18:59:00 +0000 2008 ------- 1. Launch OOo Calc (it will open with a blank document). 2. Double-click a cell and enter a date in the OS's (localized) date format – e.g., 10/17/08 3. If possible, verify that the entered value was taken as a date. For example, after I had typed 10/17/08 and pressed Enter, I single-clicked the cell; the Formula Bar displayed the contents as 10/17/2008 (adding the "20"), confirming that the value was taken as a date. 4. Save the file in Excel 97/2000/XP (*.xls) format. 5. Open the file in Microsoft Works Spreadsheet 9.0 6. Issue: the value that was entered in step 2 will be shown as a number (e.g., 39738) instead of as a date. This issue is of critical priority for my using OpenOffice.org, since I need to share files with Microsoft Office users. I do not have time to set cells manually to Date format (in the Calc main menu, Format / Cells / Numbers). I searched in the issue tracker for "save Excel date" and nothing came up. If there is a setting in the current version of OOo that resolves this issue, please point me to the documentation on it. Thanks in advance for any help. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
