------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Mar 31 09:10:39 -0800 2005 ------- My thanks to James Walker for filing this issue. If he hadn't done it already, I would be filing it now. I hope this will not just be seen as a bit of window dressing. It is a vey serious issue. Those of us who spend may hours on the users list are well aware of the trouble it causes and the number of times new users complain that 'Open Office has taken over their system' when all they wanted to do was give it a try. Furthermore, I am sure it gives people a very negative view of OO for putting them to so much trouble. As any marketing person knows, one or two angry/upset customers can outweigh the good will of many dozens of satisfied customers. In my wording, I have deliberately set out to put off the person new to OO from changing the file associations. This is because those who know what they want will not be put off from doing what they want. However, we must protect those who do not understand the full consequences of their actions from doing what they don't want. As it stands, the current wording of this dialog virtually invites people to check the boxes. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
