Older versions of Writer (2.4) kept track of the cursor position in a file in
between editing sessions. Version 3 "does and does not".
It does in the sense that when you re-open a file, Writer takes you to the
screen of text in which the cursor was placed at the last save.
It does not in the sense that it does not place the cursor in that screen, and
if you (say) use an arrow key before you click into the screen of text, Writer
takes you back to the top of the document, and you "lose your place".
The easiest way to check this is to load a file several pages long, save it with
the cursor somewhere in the middle, and then use the "File / Reload" command.
You will return to the same place in the document, but if you then press the
right arrow key, you'll go right back to the second character in the file!
Writer was remembering the wrong cursor position.
