Current, the access to LDAP address data in OpenOffice.org is done by using
Mozilla binaries which are shipped together with OpenOffice.org, employing the
address book code present in Mozilla.

This architecture has several disadvantages. On the long term, we plan to get
rid off shipping Mozilla binaries, and replace the functionality with own
implementations.

As a first step for those replacements, we should write an SDBC driver for LDAP
data, which connects directly to the server, using a library such as openLDAP.

See the Wiki page for this project
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Base_To-Do/SDBC_driver_for_LDAP_directories)
for more information.
