I have no problems saving in that format.
Please describe in detail, what "File will not save." means.
Error message? Empty file? Get a progress bar?
What dialog do you use? Windows or OOo?
Was "Automatic file name extension" checked?
Where is the target? Local hard disk? Mapped folder on server?
Disk full?
