I'm hard pressed for how to reproduce or even frame this. In the long document,
with lots
of footnotes and cross-references referencing those, I often get paragraphs
which are
rendered with the incorrect amount of vertical space, resulting in horizontal
"cut off" of
the paragraph at the bottom.

In such a paragraph the vertical scrolling by cursor arrow 'Down' stops at
certain line, but
cursor key 'Right' allows for cursor to proceed further in line and down the
line.

Such a paragraph may be "corrected" (but only "pro tem"), e.g., by entering any
character
in it. Only lines with new input and below are affected. Such paragraph may
revert to
uncorrected form if paged out of view and then into view, or after the file
re-reading.

Coming into existence of such paragraphs seems to correlate with presence of
cross-
references referencing footnotes in them. I couldn't yet find the paragraph
showing the
phenomenon and not having any kind of cross-ref in it.

Using different fonts for the paragraphs seems to correlate with the strength
of the
phenomenon: with URW Palladio, it is scarcely noticeable, with Gentium and
Linux
Libertine, it is strongly noticeable.
