Anybody can get an industry-standard keyboard that features an Alt-key! 2) If platform-compatibility is the only thing you care about, then I suggest to remove the colors from all icons *immediately*, since some platforms might only support monochrome displays. Bottom line: Enabling Alt-key-shortcuts improves the lives of (at least) 95% of all users, and doesn't do any harm to the rest.
