2008 -------
I checked with "Ooo 3.0.0 RC3 Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [OOO300m8
(Build9357)]" and can confirm the reported effect.
Normally that number should show what document - window you have on screen. If
you create a new document and use menu 'Window -> New Window' a new window will
open and the name in this window is shown as you see in "Image1.png"
But that window number is completely unnecessary in a print preview (no other
window open), and that "count up" function is also strange.
