I know enough about software not to do that. My gues is the writer would not start becuase it trying to recover the crashed PowerPoint file and then couldn't. However after writer initialised for the first time, it was O.K. I have done complete uninstalls and reinstalls on my ME partition, but crash persists in Impress when view an MS Powerpoint presentation when it gets to the slide that ahs a 'Wipe Down' transition. Can you reproduce that at your end on ME? I have the latest grphics driver for my video card. I always keep my drivers up to date.
