I use writer, German localization.
I assign styles "heading1", "heading1" etc. to headers.
For automatic numbering: "extras">"Chapter Numbering"
Everything is fine and looks like:
1
1.1
1.2
2
2.1
etc.
If I save the document and open it again, all numbering is gone ;-( and looks
like
1
1.1
1.1
1
1.1
Let's go to a headline (level H2) with incorrect numbering
Assign manually style style H3(!) and then again H2.
Numbering is now correct!
Save and re-open. Numbering gone.

Hope the attached document illustrates the problem.
