------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Apr 2 02:59:19 -0800
2005 -------
I have installed Windows 2000, build a restricted user, and OpenOffice new as
root (Administrator). OO is used as user.
I wondered, why I can't klick on a *.sxw file to start the Writer, like Issue
7310. I have found that the operative key was not written to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT,
it was written to HKEY_USERS, the tree of the user who installed OpenOffice
(root).
Result: As root there exist all HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\soffice.StarWriterDocument*,
but the user only has
  [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\soffice.StarWriterDocument.6]
  @="OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 Text Dokument"
  [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\soffice.StarWriterDocument.6\shellex]
  [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\soffice.StarWriterDocument.6\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\soffice.StarWriterDocument.6\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers\MyPropSheet1]
  @="{63542C48-9552-494A-84F7-73AA6A7C99C1}"
no shell, no command, no path to *.exe.
I thought that the keys where written to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\
instead of HEY_CLASS_ROOT\ but setup.log shows
  OK register: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT,
soffice.StarDrawDocument.6\shell\open\command, (Standard),
"C:\Anwendungen\OpenOffice\program\soffice.exe" -o "%1" Error = 0
No error for all keys and values.
Whats wrong?
I can not find a work around. After copying the keys to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT the
user can see them, but Windows does not change it's behavior, it asks for the
program again. Security is set to read for users.
