I was having a problem where my files were being corrupted when using files on a
Samba share using OpenOffice Writer 2.4.1 on an Ubuntu 8.10 machine against an
Ubuntu 8.04 server running Samba Version 3.028. Everything works perfectly
outside of OO - for instance, Nautilus works perfectly

I decided to upgrade to OpenOffice 3.0, but now having more issues.

The only way I can get to my network drives is to type in
smb://myserver/myshare/myfiles in the OO file open dialog - but when I do, OO
closes the window and shuts down - no error message.

I can open a document from Nautilus - if I click on the file and say open with
OO Writer - but it's very slow and I can't just click on Save because it is
grayed out - it will only allow me to click on Save As.

However, when I do that, it just hangs.
