A check box appears in the left-side treeview in Tools->Options in Writer, when
selecting the "OpenOffice.org Writer" -> "Compatibility" node on the treeview.
Oddly enough, this does not happen if "compatibility" is pre-selected before
opening "Options"; rather, it only occurs if another node is pre-selected when
the Options screen first activates. Also, if you leave the Options screen open
(I have an image, but not sure how to attach to this issue) then open any other
Windows application that places a window over the Options screen, the check box
will disappear, probably following a redraw of the Options window. After the
check box disappears using this method, selecting other nodes and returning to
Compatibility will not re-show the check box.

How to make it happen:
1. Be certain that OOo3 is completely unloaded from memory
2. Open a new text document in Writer
3. Go to Tools->Options
4. Select the "OpenOffice.org Writer"->"Compatibility" node from the left-side
treeview.

To magically remove the box:
5. Keep the options dialog open and set to "OpenOffice.org Writer"-
>"Compatibility"
6. open any other application, such as the GIMP, being sure that the app's
window overlays the Writer Options screen.
7. Minimize the new application, revealing the Options screen.
8. Click on other nodes and then back again, notice that the box doesn't come
back.
