Exhibit of problem:

In a new spreadsheet, enter a short text block into a cell.
For Example: In cell A1, enter the phrase: "This is a test"
-
Double click on the cell to place the cursor into the cell, the highlight a
portion of the text.
In the Example: Highlight "is a"
-
Apply a text style to that text, using the right-click menu, the style buttons
on the toolbar, or a keyboard command (i.e. ctrl+b). Then then remove the style
from the text. (It does not appear to matter if other actions occur between the
addition and the removal of the style.)
In the example: use ctrl+b to bold the highlighted text, then ctrl+b again to
remove the styling. All text in the cell now appears to have the default text
style.
-
Now, select the cell (not the text within), and apply the style to the entire
cell.
In the example: Select cell A1, and use the command ctrl+b to bold all the text
in the cell.
-
We should expect that the style is applied to all the text in the cell, but this
is not the case. The portion of the text that we removed the formatting from
remains in the default style, while the rest of the text assumes the desired
style.

Notes:
-This appears to only be an issue with applying a single style (italics does not
interfere with bold).
-If you apply this to multiple portions of the text, they all exhibit the issue.
-If you select the entire text rather than a portion, the issue does not appear
