I have been working on this same problem. Here is a snippet of content.xml
created by OO.o 2.4 for hidden text:
<style:style style:name="P1" style:family="paragraph"
style:parent-style-name="Standard">
<style:text-properties style:font-size-asian="10.5pt" text:display="true"/>
</style:style>
But OO.o 3.0 displays this paragraph as hidden as well. So something is subtly
broken.
