2008 -------
First of all, I believe these are Microsoft Equation 3 objects, as the file is 
a recent Microsoft Word file. Mac 
TextEdit calls them "Equation.3".

When displaying or printing these objects, I get garbage. When I open them in 
the formula editor, they 
appear fine.
