It seems we spend a huge amount of time doing tree building goodness in
scriptitems.pm
This patch saves me 10 seconds of CPU time (on my fast machine).
If you apply & un-comment the 3rd from last hunk, first you can satisfy yourself
that it produces the same output before/after fairly trivially.
