Gentlmen,
I have to subit a question to you.
My company is williing to move towards OpenOffice 3.0
unfortunatly we still have some Microsoft office clients in the office
and before we migrate all the workstations to OO
I have to sort out 2 issues.

1) we receive excel files from about 30 branches and copy them into a folder
and with an spreadsheet we read out all the .xls files to get a spreadsheet
with total/end results.

when I open the Global spreadsheet with OO, update the links I can read the
results.
If I save this spreadsheet with OO, I am not able anymore to update the links
with other Excel clients.

Is there any way to save the spreadsheet with OO and keep the correct links
usable with excel?

Here a quick example.
This is the link made with Excel : ='D:\LinkTest\[Gennaio.xls]Foglio1'!A1
This is the link opened with OpenOffice :
='file:///D:/LinkTest/Gennaio.xls'#$Foglio1.A1
        The results are still OK!!
This is the link reopened with Excel : ='D:\LinkTest\file:///D:/LinkTest/
[Gennaio.xls]Foglio1'!A1
The results will not be updated
This is : ='file:///D:/LinkTest/Gennaio.xls'#$Foglio1.A1
        The results are update

2) There is a hudge number of links to external spreadsheets to be updated,
only the first page has more the 500 links to update.
OpenOffice breaks down at 255 link and is not able to add more,
coming up with #ref!
