These are feature requests, and there are two independent ones in this issue.
One request per issue, so I'm going to close this, and suggest that you open new

Note that the discussion of issue 7357 indicates that your request #1 isn't
supported in competing products, so you'll have to carefully and completely
define what you expect to happen.
