Additional comment:

I found that I did not have to enter any character into a cell in order to enter
text with new lines.  Just double click the empty cell (edit mode), then paste.

Works on OOO300m9 on Vista and a Ubuntu version of Linux (Progex), DEV300m35 on
Vista.

P.S. If you want to insert text with new lines into a cell with text, after
double clicking the cell, place the cursor where you want to insert the text,
then paste.
