I agree, that the current patches are no clean solution - but they fix (or
implement a workaround) for the people who actually request gengal to be 
working:
- linux distros who use go-oo
- linux distros who hopefully will use vanilla ooo

at the moment we ship a fully broken gengal. So any fix that improves the
situation is imho acceptable, as long as it does not introduce other 
regressions.

The rest of the discussion tends to be academic. 

I'd suggest to implement the workaround as suggested by jcn, include it in 3.0.1
(if cws gets approved) and file another issue for a clean solution (where
everyone is free to work on).
