We are trying out Impress 3.0.0 as a PowerPoint replacement and the default
behavior of linking images when they are dragged and dropped in from Explorer
or cut-and-pasted is making our users unhappy. They don't understand why their
presentations are blank when they send them to someone else to view.

I have told them about the Insert, Picture, From File..., uncheck Link box
method but this is much slower than their preferred drag-and-drop method.

Issue 15508 prevents the Edit, Links, Break Link method from being feasible due
to JPG to PNG conversion and the resulting huge file size.

A default of embedding images in their native format would be a big usability
step forward.

Linking is an advanced option for people that are willing to trade file size
for increased brittleness of their presentation objects. The default should be
the more robust, it-just-works option in the experience of our users.

Thanks,
Tim Miller Dyck
