With any spreadsheet it is standard practise to print only a portion of a sheet
as often spreadsheets can be very large and complex. However when selecting a
number of rows and columns it is almost impossible to know how these will print
without first previewing. A typical problem is that these selected cells will
print over 4 pages instead of 2 (wasting paper and time). Thus it is standard
that one should be able to do a Print Preview of the cells selected to Print.
This is a standard feature in Excel/Lotus and has been for many years.

In Calc, one can Print a Selection but one cannot Print Preview it, so one has
to just print and hope. This causes a lot of anger amongst users due to wasted
paper, ink and time.

The above isn't as much of a concern within Writer as it is fairly obvious how
many pages it will print on. But within Calc it is a big problem as Sheets have
no defined width and thus selected cells can end up printing on 3 pages
horizontally and 2 pages vertically.

Previously bug 89135 was reported and closed as "Resolved." I believe this to be
incorrect.

I must emphasise as a consultant who has designed many sheets for large numbers
of users in big companies, this issue would be a deal-breaker in a migration
from MS to OO.
