Then, we would support SQL and Java styles, which would be an improvement already. I don't really like the idea of integrating a half-done support for C++ style, the more since I think that *multiple* lines is the usual case for this type of comment. So, with the current patch, users would encounter a bug ("it does not work for multiline C++ style"), where a removal of C++ style support would simply be observed as a missing feature - which I would consider less severe.
