mru: OK. However:
0: Math automatically italicizes variable names, but not function names (like
'sin') or numbers. Good. But, why should it also italicize equal signs --and
semicolons, and $, etc? That's unexpected.
I often use the raised dot 'ยท' in my equations, but it too gets italicized
--unless I put it in quotes, but that's a pain.
The usual convention is formula editing is that only variable names be
italicized. In conclusion, automatic italicization should apply only to letters
(Roman or Greek)
1: Why does the italicized = in the math formula look 'fatter' that an
italicized = in normal text? See EquItal.odt, attached.
