You can't mix paragraph styles in one document. In the files template and doc1,
paragraph style "heading 1" has no numbering style. But the paragraph style
"heading 1" in the file doc-appendix has the numbering style "Appendix". So, in
the master document is no numbering style assigned to "heading 1" and you
appendix numbering is missing.

As a workaround, you can assign to (e.g.) "heading 5" another numbering format
(A,B,C,...) with "Tools > Outline Numbering" in the master document. With that
you can create your appendix outline numbering in both the master and the slave
document.

But I think Issue 70748 is more helpful for you, which is available with OOo 3.1
in some months.
