Have you tried to reproduce it using OpenOffice 3.0.0 on Linux? I just tried my test case under Windows, and couldn't cause the crash either. So this could be OS/distribution specific. Feel free to update the OS field on the bug accordingly (I'd do this myself but don't have permission to modify the bug). Not sure what you mean by checking it out "in a native OOo build" ... I reproduced the crash in my test case using the gentoo package app-office/openoffice-3.0.0. It was compiled on gentoo, and then run on gentoo.
