@hdu: see also issue 95668, although that issue focuses on MS import.

I think I am not such a great fan of an automatic-inserted-something solution.
Still, the OOo has many advantages over the Ms approach. If one knows the
concept of how to use RLM/LRM, there is really no problem.

If one types e.g. parentheses in Word, you have the directional information
attached depending on the input language, that was used, and it is almost
impossible to get rid of that afterwards. Editing such text passages can cause a
lot of pain, because it is often unclear which input language was used.

So, any innovation should be more transparent than that. A first step into that
direction could be to optionally visualize the LRM/RLM markers. So if the
application inserts a marker, and I want to remove that, I can do that without
too much guessing.

For the automatic insertion:

1. It could be done by detecting weak characters on the run boundaries, and
detecting which input IME was used. Still, I am not convinced that this would be
so helpful (will attach example)

2. Maybe it is more useful to concentrate on parentheses. A lot of problematic
expamples described in the issues involve parentheses, where the opening and
closing parentheses get different directionalities. This could be compensated by
adding the appropriate marker to the closing parenthesis.
