This part of font troubleshoot guide is quite obsolete. I don't think I ever
saw that page, thanks for the
link.
Nowadays we use the "system font" (from GTK/KDE/CDE, depending on the system)
unless Tools-
>Options->View->UseSystemFont has been disabled, in which case the locale

be chosen. So the best way to change the UI font is with the system-wide font
chooser, e.g. gnome-config
or kconfig.
