------- Additional comments from [email protected] Wed Mar 11 11:50:14 +0000 2009 ------- http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=openoffice+sum+union+symbol+missing+bigsum http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=bigsqcup.xpm+bigcup.xpm The symbol for 'disjoint union' or super union or bigcup whatever you wish to call it is an important symbol and the lack of it is holding back adoption of OpenOffice at university level. As an example, I am a 3rd year undergraduate and have several years notes all typed in OpenOffice (my favourite word processor). I am now studying combinatorics and the lack of convenient (menu/pallete) availability makes for difficult note taking for this module. The competition CrudOffice added this symbol and a host of other 'n-ary' symbols (to use their phrase) to the 2007 version. (see attachment naryOperators__200903cropped.png above) Some graduates turn out to be future business leaders, so if they end up using CrudOffice because you are missing a symbol, then you have lost a future corporate buyer - it matters. The only action that seems to be happening recently is 'marked as duplicate' which ignores the issue in some ways - the fact that new bug reports are being opened indicates demand and might hopefully result in this bug 11167 being moved up the priority list soon. As this request was submitted several years ago, I hope that OpenOffice can add this symbol soon. Giving the competition a two year head start is probably too long already. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
