A numbered list that is created in OOo 3.0 or 3.0.1 will lose important
functionality if the document is saved in .doc format (compatible with Microsoft
Word 97/200/XP). The problem does not exist if the same document is saved in ODF
format (.odt).

The numbered list that is saved in .doc format loses the ability to have new
numbers inserted into the list with proper indention formatting.

Versions:
Defect was part of OpenOffice.org version 3.0 and 3.0.1

Openoffice.org 2.4.1 does not exhibit this defect

Operating Systems Tested:
Ubuntu 8.10
Windows Vista SP1
Windows XP SP3

Steps to reproduce:
A) Open OpenOffice Writer 3.0 or 3.0.1
B) Create a numbered list by pressing the <F12> key
C) Add the following information, so that your numbered list looks like this:
  1. text_A
  2. text_B
D) Save the document in .odt format (the default for OpenOffice Writer)
E) Save the document in .doc format (Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP)
F) Close the document
G) Defect - To see the defective behavior, open the .doc format of the document
you saved and add another line to the numbered list between "text_A" and
"text_B." You will see that the inserted number does not indent, but the text
will indent, thus:
  1. text_A
  1. subtext
  2. text_B
H) Expected Behavior - To see the expected, non-defective behavior, open the
.odt format of the document you saved, and add another line to the numbered list
between "text_A" and "text_B" You will observe that the inserted number indents
properly:
  1. text
       1. subtext
  2. text
