BIG VOTE FOR SEPARATE RECENTLY USED FILES LIST. 

That list is the most valuable time saver in Word, Excel, etc. It is rendered
practically useless in OO by combining all the different types of documents on
one list, especially when the list is not made (much) longer and sortable by
file type, date created / modified, etc.
