I have some difficulties to reproduce that problem.
I tried as listed in the report, and 1 time I was successful to add an
additional point to a line (what seems to be without any influence to the line,
pls. see attached sample with screenshot). During all my further attempts with
other lines, the line became unselected when I clicked it with pressed shift
key.
