Please look at the following for more details, clarification and resolution: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=95809 http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=91015 In short, there was a major change to the file locking mechanism in 3.0.x which caused data loss in heterogeneous environments (ie OOo and any other office suite opening files simultaneously).
