------- Additional comments from [email protected] Sat Mar 28 02:34:02 +0000 2009 ------- I encountered a blank display (all white) on my second monitor when trying to view a presentation file and large settings for my graphics display resolutions (Mon.1:1152x864,Mon.2:1280x1024) Secondary display would not show any slide. Primary monitor did show the presentation. Could not temporarily use two monitors with OOo. (Worked fine with with PowerPoint) This issue is similar to Issue 70721, but I didn't find a more closer issue to my problem, and was expecting it to work in a newer release. I apologize if there is another issue that I didn't find, being just new to the program and the project. After testing my system, the following settings (M1=Monitor 1, M2=Monitor 2) and results are: A. Program on primary monitor, Presentation Mon. on Monitor 2 a. M1:1024x768, M2: 1152x864: OOo shows: Yes b. M1:800x600, M2: 1152x864: OOo shows: Yes c. M1:1152x864, M2: 1152x864: OOo shows: No d. M1: 1024x768, M2: 1280x1024: OOo shows: No e. M1: 1152x864, M2: 1280x1024: OOo shows: No Switching the program and monitor settings, I get different results: B. Program on secondary monitor, Presentation Mon. on Monitor 1 a. M1: 1152x864, M2: 1024x768: OOo shows: Yes b. M1:1152x864, M2: 800x600: OOo shows: Yes c. M1:1152x864, M2: 1152x864: OOo shows: Yes d. M1:1280x1024, M2:1024x768: OOo shows: Yes e. M1:1280x1024, M2: 1152x864: OOo shows: Yes I tested 11 different monitor settings, 6 moderate, and 5 higher resolutions. I thought the issue at hand could be surpassing my video card capabilities. My desktop has a ATI Radeon 7000 with 32MB memory; running 760MB RAM. However, further testing in PowerPoint (v.2000) resulted in success in all 5 higher resolution settings for two monitors on Monitor 2. OpenOffice did show the presentation on Monitor 2 for the six moderate display settings, then passed 2 of 5 higher resolution settings, as shown above. When I switched the display to Monitor 1, and tested opposites, OpenOffice showed the presentation at 5 of 5 higher resolutions. This occurred only in Impress Presentation, OOo.3, with three different files, opened with two imported .ppt files, and a new .odp file. (Originally I thought there was compatibility issues and resaved/reopened with PowerPoint v.2000.) Documenation: Preliminary: Opened a working presentation program (.ppt or .odp) Step A: Place Program in Monitor 1. Verified Display output to second monitor: SlideShow|Slide Show Settings; Presentation Monitor: Monitor 2 1. Change display resolution settings: Windows Display Properties\Settings Tab, etc. 2. Select slide, Start show (Slide Show button or View|Slide Show or F5), Advance slide, Esc. 3. Notate the visibility of the presentation. 4. Repeat steps A.1. thru A.3. for different values of monitor settings. Step B: Place Program in Monitor 2. Verified display outupt to primary monitor: SlideShow|Slide Show Settings; Presentation Monitor: Monitor 1 Similarly, 1. Change display resolution settings: Windows Display Properties\Settings Tab, etc. 2. Select slide, Start show (Slide Show button or View|Slide Show or F5), Advance slide, Esc. 3. Notate the visibility of the presentation. 4. Repeat steps B.1. thru B.3. for different values of monitor settings. I tested eleven different settings, in order of combined resolution video demand, which resulted in Steps A (Secondary monitor) the Program showed the presentation for the first 8 of 11 tests. Steps B (Primary monitor), the Program showed the presentation for all 11 of the display tests. I am guessing there may be "cap" to displaying a presentation on the second monitor (Monitor 2). However, there may be a problem with my video card, and in order to overcome the issue, I can change my display resolution in one or the other monitor. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
