------- Additional comments from [email protected] Thu Apr 2 05:56:41 +0000 2009 ------- When I open my .odt file, I want to view and edit in two separate parts of the file, so since there is no split-view (ala MSO) I use Window -> New Window menu command. This opens a new window, which APPEARS to be editing/ viewing the same file. Problem is, when I make changes in one window, those changes are not propagated into the other window. This is a VERY SERIOUS bug -> saving my changes in one window, causes the changes made in the other window to be DELETED. The version of the file I get, depends on which window I save, and only the changes made into that window since the time I opened the new window, are saved! The feature should be disabled unless such a basic and fundamental bug, relating directly to the feature itself, is fixed. I am fortunate I did not lose a lot of data, only a small amount, but at least one other person lost TWO DAYS worth of work (see post 8 in the following forum thread, by user giuseb: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=320032)! This is unconscionable to have such a "feature", without a big red warning to the user of that feature!! See also issue 19291 at http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=19291, and also issue 19292. I am using Ubuntu 8.04, with all updates applied as of today. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
