------- Additional comments from ske...@openoffice.org Tue Apr 28 18:49:17 +0000 2009 ------- Of course it's possible to "have it different". The "expected" behavior (by users trying to create and edit documents) is that when you select one or more cells and delete the column(s) that the cell(s) is/are in, then the column(s) should be deleted. Merged cells spanning only the column(s) to be deleted should be deleted. Merged cells extending beyond the deleted column(s) should keep the cells that aren't in the deleted column(s). Deleting the entire table, or whatever internal structure is conveniently easy, when it is counter to "expected, normal" behavior (not counter-intuitive behavior based on the implementation) is counter to our users having a positive experience with our software. A user should not have to second-guess how the table is modeled internally. Nor should a user have to pick apart his tables in an attempt to delete some part of a table that happens to cross some internal or even visible boundary. Please fix this bug, as the current behavior is not obvious to our users, who have little idea of how to work around the current behavior. (The goal is to have text-editing software that allows our users to concentrate on their writing, not on learning internal structures for our tables.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
