Looks like my cover is blown. Oh well.

I subsequently sent new information to GRS in reply to questions about the
earlier attachments to this issue. Also, included were new screen shots,
carefully inspected to be certain they are accurate. They will become new
attachments after this is posted.

Key points: I get the same behavior using any of my three computers from the
HP4000 (hangs off an LPD style print server which is built into my router) and a
Tektronix/Xerox Phaser 860DP which is directly connected to the network. I also
get the same behaviors from SuSE 9.1 running 1.9.84.

In my first post, I mentioned that I had tried both portrait and landscape
orientations in the printer settings. What didn't stand out is that there was
no change in the orientation of the output which was the reason for switching
them in the first place.

As best I can determine, envelope printing functions correctly using OOo1.1.4 on
these systems. Key differences in behavior in Beta 2.0 I have noted are:
1. Printer settings are not saved for envelope paper type (size) and
orientation.
2. There is a pop up box that announces that the program recognizes that
printer settings were changed and asks whether to save them with the document.
It makes no difference which is selected (Y/N), the settings still aren't saved.
3. Altering the style of an envelope inserted in a document causes it to
irrevocably print in portrait orientation. If the first printout were even
close to accurate, one might skate by. See the first part of attachment 24902.

I disagree with classifying this issue as an enhancement unless you've been
hiring former Microsoft employees who brought along and infected you with their
old terminology. It's a broken function that is a key element of any
business-worthy office suite.
