2009 -------
I did the mentioned scenario and had no problem:
- loaded file from USB stick
- made some changes in the file
- saved
- waited until progress bar disappears but OOo still usable
- unplugged at this time the USB stick
-> Error "Cannot find 'Test file.odt'"
- Re-plugged USB stick
-> OOo carried on saving.
So WORKSFORME.
Note: Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org/Paths is not a directory but directory
setting in OOo which can be found under the *menu* "Tools - Options -
OpenOffice.org - Paths". There you can see right to "Backup" where the backups
are stored on your system.
