------- Additional comments from [email protected] Wed May 27 17:00:57 +0000 2009 ------- {IncludeText} fields are not supported for the older binary (97-2003) .doc formats. It does work with the 2007 .xml format. The older binary format contains a copy of the included text, which Word can use when opening the document even if the link is broken (e.g. after you've emailed the file to someone else); it would be nice if OOo could at least use that copy even if it can't properly support the automatic link between the files. (It does know about that link -- Edit -> Links shows the proper list of linked files. It just doesn't do anything with them.) In my specific case, it would make it possible to switch to OOo even though my client has thousands of files in .doc format that all reference shared headers, signature blocks, etc. Currently, fully switching to OOo would mean never editing or printing those documents again, which were generated as a result of mail-merge. Attempting to do so would drop whole chunks of the documents. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
