Quoted text has an implicit 'alignl' as pre-fix, since usually that one is NOT used as formula part but only for additional text descriptions for the formula. However you can work around the issue by writing {{}"hello"} over {a+b+c+d} Since lines starting with a formula are by default center aligned.
