I now proceeded to try this with sound only using an *.mp3 file on the same
configuration

Steps;

1) Created new presentation with the wine template
2) Insert > Movie and Sound > Selected the "HearMe.mp3" file
   NB: On Insertion of the file, a picture of a speaker is seen in the centre of
       the presentation
3) Hit "F5" to expand to Full Screen
   NB: Once it expands to full screen mode the sound file is played fine

Attached is the sound file and the presentation generated.
