In many scientific applications, it is useful to have axis that have fancier
stuff that straightforward characters. For example, you might want (and
sometimes do want) to have an axis such as <i>I</i>_z (italics I, subscript z)
or <b>B</b> (bold B). Other times you would like to have an axis labeled Mass
(MeV/c^2), Speed (m/s^2), or Force (kg·m/s^2) (^2 denotes a superscript 2). Yet
other times you would like to have a Chart titled something like <i>A<i>_0
sin(<i>x<i>)/<i>x</i>. This doesn't seem all that hard to implement and users
would greatly benefit from it.
