For me, thats not a bug. Calc is not a stand alone Program, Calc is a modul from
OpenOffice.org. So, if you close all Calc documents, OOo should fall back to the
main application. On this application you have only the menu item "File"
Please try it with a 3.x version of OOo. I have no Linux here to test. on Mac it
works all as expected. Thanks
